This article made me chuckle, a very quiet almost inaudible chuckle to be sure.

Im actually insulted that he wants us to behave like the loud and obnoxious yanks.
And lets be honest, the 'banter' that goes on is either forms of gloating, anger, useless instructions or various insults.

Obviously 'Chet' has never played with Duck but his Greek heritage may exclude him anyway.

Im not particularly keen on talking over the phone either prefering txts. But IRL I guess Im pretty chatty.

So should we British start nattering?

I chat on games in a room with mates, if there's people I don't know there I tend to be more reserved and swear a lot less

That's just a load of bullshit. I always talk with people if I'm playing with randoms on L4D. In fact, if there is a couple of people with no mics I will just leave and look for another game because you do really need to talk in that game and I don't want to spend an hour babysitting people with no mics in case they run off.

I only chat with people I know. It follows a rather ugly confrontation on Halo with a team of English R Soles.

I chat with all randoms, if it's an option I will boot anyone that hasn't got a mic.

I usually don't talk with randoms anymore. I used to be quite talkative, but often people just respond with silence, or tell me to go and sort my teeth out, etc. So I just keep my mouth shut these days, unless i'm with friends.

I only go online with chums and usually in a party so don't mind talking/swearing/insulting the others in the party (unless I'm playing Fallout then you normally wont hear a word from me)

I don't talk to strangers, it's how I was brought up. Just kidding. If I'm playing with people I don't know I usually keep my mic off, unless it's a game that requires teamwork & then I usually keep chatter on topic & polite. I don't like trash talk from strangers & will usually mute them if I can & if they really annoy me use the feedback tool to avoid them in future.

No, it's just the US players I have encountered are loud mouth racist pricks (not all and it's not pigeon holing, just the ones I have played)

You should get in on a session with Ptermite, VAPF et al.... not much silence!!

I try not to play with randoms, unless it's cold and I haven't got laid for a while... I'll kidnap someoone and.... sorry tangent... back to playing online....

If you really need someone screaming in your ear, everyone should've been about when DaCitizen was trying to get an achievement on Mirrors Edge the other night...
