Can't wait to see Alien. I've set my expectation at a level not to expect the first two films level of fear, but as long as it numbs the pain of the last few films I will take that.

I finally got round to watching Furious 7 when it got added to Netflix not long ago. It was quite a good action film and I actually did well up at the end (no tears were shed let me tell you lot now before you think "what a big baby! ").

After a long absence from the filcks, I saw.....

On paper, I should have loved this. It's a Finnish film, I love Scandinavian films, a bit left of centre, it's heart in the right place. It's also another film that is doing so well with critics (90%+ on Rotten Tomatoes).

I was bored senseless. I fell asleep and when I did wake up, it just annoyed me and I walked out.

It was weird, but not in a great way. Straddling somewhere between surreal and shit, my mind found itself concentrating on the shit aspects. Lots of non-actors and weird performances - if it had gone for the full surreal, I may have liked it.

I just didn't get it. Perhaps in a different frame of mind, I may have liked it.....or perhaps it was shit and the critics liked it's positive (and naive) message).

They seemed to really like that film on the Little White Lies podcast (one you might enjoy Lee as well as Picturehouse podcast).

Meanwhile, I nodded off during Wonder Woman. It's much better than anything DC have put out in the last few years but has some pacing issues and cruddy CG. But it's great to see strong women kicking ass in a big action blockbuster on both the acting and directing front.

Headshot - If you know 'The Raid' film series then you will sort of know the Mo Brothers who also done the film Killers (not the crappy Kutcher one).

How I Spent My Summer Vacation (aka Get The Gringo) - I swear I never get tired of this film no matter how many times itv4 airs it as Mel Gibson is just brilliant in it

Is it weird that I was excited that Netflix added Spooks: The Greater Good?

It was actually a decent 'extended episode' even though its a movie though I felt they could have added more violence to certain scenes which I felt was lacking.

Saw Baby Driver, the new Edgar Wright one. Tremendous amount of fun and kept a big grin on my face. Feels a bit like La La Land for the Grand Theft Auto generation. Music and choreography plays a huge part in this film, while at times it can feel a little bit too much, it's all done with bags of style, confidence and is wonderfully edited.

Kind of loses its way a little bit towards the end and it's not gonna win many awards in terms of scriptwriting, but it's a damn good ride.
