This is actually genuine.

I have to change my GTX 770 to a GTX 980. I don't know where to start.

People have said "oh, there are videos", "oh, it's easy"... I know it is ,but I don't know how.

I did install the GTX 770, but I sweated like a bad man and it took half a day.

Please help me.

Easy peasy mate.

Turn off PC.
Unplug the power and any USB / HDMI leads from the outside of the case.
Open case.
Exclaim about the incredible amount of dust in there.
Find the graphics card.
Unplug the power cable(s) going to the top of the graphics card. Usually 1 or 2 of these.
Unscrew the card. Usually a screw on each of the PC slots, or a quick release latch to lock down all cards.
Find the little latch at the end of the graphics card PCIe slot on the motherboard. (can check on an unused slot to see what it looks like and which way to press it, it's down at the end where the power leads plugged into the card but at the bottom)
Hold this latch down and pull the graphics card out.
Have a sip of tea and mop your brow.
Take the new graphics card and slide it in. No need to mess around with the latch, it'll automatically lock when the card is all the way in.
Screw it in / close the quick release thingy.
Plug the 2 power leads into the 980.
Think about cleaning the dust from inside the case, but then screw the side back on anyway.
Plug all your leads and wotnot back into the PC and turn it on.
Check in your Nvidia control panel to make sure it's picked it up correctly.
Finish your cup of tea.
Consider buying some compressed air to give your PC a good clean, but then don't 8-)

I remember watching some kid build his first PC on a Twitch stream. Bloody funny watching him do everything in the wrong order while ignoring the wise words in chat. Then rage quiting the stream because everyone was laughing at him.

So please stream it on Twitch or Periscope or something so we can advise you what to do ;)

Since I replaced the card this thing happens.......

When I boot up I get a message "Overclocking Failed". I then have to go to the Bios screen thing and exit from there to boot.

A google search seems to imply that this is common and easy... But it scares the shit out of me.

I need to reset my CMOS? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-?

Cheers David. I will give that a try tomorrow.

All the other methods I've seen involve tinkering with hardware, which I would rather avoid :-o

I cant imagine youre overclocking anything yourself but most motherboards set the ram at 1333/1600mhz as default. if youre using a faster memory, say 1888mhz, it might have changed that back to default when you installed the new graphics card. Id check the memory settings first and see if that needs changing.

Youre looking for something like this to change in bios. Mines called DRAM Frequency in my BIOS
