I have a second monitor waiting for me at a friends house.......

I just need to make some space for my PC tower and set it up......

But this is me :-?

My main monitor will be and is hooked up via a HDMI.... I guess the second with be other cables?

How do I do it, is it easy?

Then when it is up, with say Elite on one screen and a Trading tool on the other, how does that all work? How does the mouse know which screen it should be on? (Yes, I know nothing).

What graphics card did you have Lee?, in the simplistic terms, depending on the second monitor it would ideally be a second hdmi an that your card has 2 ports. And don't worry about the mouse, it knows what screen it's on.

I have HDMI leading from my graphics card to my capture card, and then to my main monitor, 2nd monitor is connected by DVI

All depends on your Graphics card
I've just upgraded to an MSI Geforce GTX 970, was using a Geforce GTX 660 Ti before

I find running most games in borderless window allows the mouse to move over to the other screen (for elite) or alt tabbing..

its hard for me to explain (lack of coffee atm) but when you have it setup you'll see its really easy

For cables - as well as your HDMI your card has Display Port, DVI-D and DVI-I if memory serves. It will just depend on the inputs the second monitor has as to which you use - but DVI adapters for VGA are super cheap if it only has HDMI and VGA :-)

During use, whether the mouse flows screen-to-screen will depend on what's in 'focus'. Typically you'll be able to use both as one large screen space (I always have tweetdeck on one and whatever else I'm doing on the other) - then when gaming, of your game is full screen the mouse will be locked within it, but you can still have something like your Elite tools running on the other.

To switch between the two when gaming, your best shout is as Gary said - run the game borderless windowed (which works, although I find myself clicking out of the game frequently if doing so) or alt-tabbing between windows.

NVIDIA GTX 770 is my card.

It's a window mode - within games you'll have 'Windowed', 'Fullscreen' and 'Borderless Windowed' - Borderless is functionally the same as windowed, but without the windows border - so it appears fullscreen :-)

And then once your used to it... you'll wonder how you ever used "just" 1 monitor, I'm constantly trying to get the PC's at work setup to dual monitors.. I think I'm starting to break the bosses resolve through constant moaning

I'm hopefully going to try this tomorrow... It's going to involve some furniture moving and I should be good to go.

I still haven't a clue what any of you said, but I will plug it in and see what happens.
